“LeMonds” was recorded in the tower of an 800 year old castle in Austria, and in Madison, Wisconsin /USA. during the fall of 2009.
The supporting musicians are recording artists that I’ve worked with over the past decades. The husband/wife duo of Mary Gaines and Chris Wagoner of Madison, Wisconsin, sometimes know as the “Swiss-knives of studio work”, added vocal harmonies, cello, bass, mandolin, violin, ukulele and accordion. They have done studio work for a multitude of folk, pop and indie artists such as, U2, Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage, Carrie Newcomer and Freedy Johnston.
Arkadiy Yushin, producer, electric guitarist, acoustic guitarist and composer extraordinaire, born in Belarus and living in the US for the past 12 years, added his guitar playing to the arrangements. He found simple, but very effective parts for each song, never over playing, and showing his remarkable abilities as a sideman and live player. He has worked with among others Peter Ostroushko, Willy Murphy, Joey McIntyre, Anthony Cox and Adi Yeshaya.
A special guest on the recording is Wisconsin guitarist and mandolin player Chris Silver, who played on Chuck’s first album and was on the first tour in Europe with him back in 1985. Chris Silver has toured in Japan, Germany, Austria, Mexico and throughout the USA with various bluegrass bands and is regularly a guest on the radio program “Prairie Home Companion”.
